WWF Panda Adoption

Pandamonium has adopted a 12 year old giant panda who lives in the Wanglang Panda Reserve in the Minshan mountain range of Sichuan Provence, China. The panda is a female and is called Zhu Xiong which means 'Bamboo Bear' and is the local chinese name for pandas.

Why did Pandamonium decide to adopt a Giant Panda from the WWF?

As the amount of people needing room to live gets more and more, forests are cut down to make new farmland, and get timber for building and fuel. Pandas have been forced to live in smaller and smaller areas and their numbers have dropped rapidly. Giant pandas are also hunted by poachers. There are only 1,600 giant pandas left living wild in China and that is a desperately low number. The WWF use the money from adoptions to try and help the giant pandas. Pandamonium adopted Zhu Xiong to help support the work of the WWF who are trying to make sure that giant pandas do not die out.

Giant Pandas can be adopted from WWF from as little as £3 a month. If you or your family would like to adopt one, click on Pandamonium's face button on the right and it will take you to WWF's adoption site where you can find out more.
